Civil engineer, engaged in the academic community and in the field of technology for Survey, Conservation and Restoration, in the course of over 30 years of activities he has gained experience in the fields of engineering interacting with territory maintenance and related Geographic Information Systems by extending its use also to the field of Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
In the field of planning and restoring he looked after the management of the flow of civil and architectural design with analysis of vulnerability of Cultural Heritage decay.
He employed his recently experience acquired in corporate management to the structuring of the analysis groups , relief and coordination of activities in the field also applied to important national and international projects .
Among these, the Project Management for ” Adaptation and Renewal of the National Museum in Damascus and recovery of the Citadel of Damascus,” on behalf of the General Directorate for Cooperation and Development of the Italian Foreign Ministry ; the fulfilment of GIS system in the archaeological area of Saqqara in Egypt on behalf of the University of Pisa and the Feasibility Study for the “New Egyptian museum system in Cairo and Giza”; Coordination of the Italian section of the Project HORUS – ESA (European Space Agency ) for the detection of archaeological sites by Remote sensing applications in Egypt; the georeference of the cultural heritage affected by the earthquake in the regions of Umbria and Marche as well as the first experiments in Lazio using GPS technology on behalf of the Central Institute of Restoration ; the Technical Management of project Risk Map of Cultural Heritage and its first subsequent evolution by foster consortia of the Central Institute for Restoration of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage; the coordination of the Italian participation in the project LIFEPLUS , for the creation of an Augmented Reality system for the reconstruction of scenes of life in POMPEII , and the coordination of the Italian participation in the project ARCHEOGUIDE , in the archaeological site of Olympia in Greece , for the realization of Augmented Reality systems in the fruition of archaeological sites , funded by the European Community . He was project leader of the first Italian-led European project ( EU REFRAN 598) in monitoring the recognition of cultural heritage with EUREKA. For over 28 years he has been engaged in the academic community as lecturer at the Universities of Rome and L’Aquila in the courses of Survey and Topography as a Lecturer on the theme of ” Heritage at risk inventories ” at ICCROM . He was a member of national and international public commissions such as the Working Group Standards and Protocols of the Memorandum of Understanding on Multimedia Access to Europe Cultural Heritage, the UNESCO World Heritage Information Network and the UNI- NORMAL (Commission Relief for Restoration ) , Central Institute for Restoration.
He currently works as an expert in technology for Cultural Heritage with public and private entities and is Editorial Director of Archeomatica , the new Italian magazine on Technologies for Cultural Heritage .
